Elizabeth Bach About artist Elizabeth Bach
Entering university as a mature age student after being a hobby painter for many years, I enjoyed the challenge of contemporary art and working in a diversity of mediums. In 1997 I graduated from Griffith University Queensland College of Art with a BA of Visual Arts in Fine Art, and in my final year was awarded the Gertrude Langer Award for painting. Being at QCA gave me the opportunity to take part in contemporary art exhibitions, as well as organizing exhibitions.

Since graduating I have exhibited in group exhibitions, locally and nationally, and have work in collections throughout Australia. As well as working on committees to promote and collect art, I have also been artist in residence and have taught art. I worked as Midwife for 25yrs at the RBWH and was able to help introduce art into the hospital environment by working to obtain art works for the public areas.

Most of my work explores repetition, sameness and difference, often, but not always, in a botanical theme. There is a focus on traditional artistic concerns such as composition, colour and pattern, and the patterns of the forms show difference through repetition.
